This Foodie Friday we spoke to James.James is a Sales Manager and lives in East London. He spends his time running, reading and traveling with his partner.
How many times a week do you eat out and roughly how much do you spend?
"I eat lunch out every day and tend to spend around £10 each time. I'll eat dinner out maybe once a week with my partner, usually at a top end of around £50 each. We eat breakfast out once a week too, probably at around £8."
What foods can you not eat or wish to avoid?
"I am allergic to shellfish and have recently turned vegetarian, therefore it can be difficult to find enough options when dining out. Whilst not vegan, I try to avoid milk based dishes where possible and would much prefer to eat eggs at a restaurant if there is clear detail on where they are sourced - being able to see clearer options would make things much easier."
How do you decide where to eat?
"Mostly I decide based on recommendations from friends or colleagues. I always go online before visiting a restaurant to check that their website is up to date and relevant - for me that makes a big difference as it shows that they want all 'doors' to their business to look good. I'll then usually look at photos on trip advisor to see what the food and interiors look like from a customer's point of view."
What would make eating out easier for you and allow you to #eatwithconfidence?
"Definitely, an app or website that helps you easily identify what you can and can't eat, as well as where the produce has come from, especially with eggs. When I ate meat I was still keen on eating 'ethically sourced' meat, therefore some detail on how the restaurant has acquired the meat and how it was produced would have made a difference when choosing somewhere to go."
Tell us your favourite restaurant?
"I honestly don't have a favourite restaurant, I like to eat at all different types of places with varying prices; as long as the food is good!"
