When is a square-shaped pie NOT square? The answer is when it's made by a company called Eat Square!Confused?Eat Square, based in Wiltshire, was established last year, with the idea of offering `Square Meals', including `Square Pies'. But now the firm has become embroiled in a culinary clash with a rival pie-maker. Eat Square's Alex Joll was stunned to receive a legal letter on behalf of London pie purveyors Square Pie, to inform him that 'Square Pie' was their registered trademark."We have to stop calling our pies Square Pies, so from now on they're just pies," said Alex. The company has been banned from using anything to do with 'Square' and are not even sure they'll be able to keep their name."We've taken every reference to Square Pies off our website," Alex explained."There's pictures of square pies but we can't call them 'Square'.""We'll keep making square-shaped pies and that's the main thing."Meanwhile, Square Pie, who've been in business for 15 years, say they have no intention of sparking a pastry punch-up and have no objection to Eat Square making and selling square-shaped pies.
