Part time Financial Controller

Kafoodle is looking for part-time financial controller (1-2 days per week) to support the COO and CEO with the management of all finance and accounting operations for the business through the next phase of significant growth. The ideal candidate will be a team player, comfortable working under their own steam and used to working in a fast-paced, innovative environment. They will be a self-starter, pragmatic with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as a strong sense of 'what good looks like'. This can be a contract or permanent position.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Produce and interpret accurate and timely monthly management account packs, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and additional KPIs where required or relevant
  • Present financial reports and interpretation to the executive team, board and investors as required
  • Improve and produce accurate and timely cash forecasts
  • Improve and manage the planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Provide the exec team with month-end analysis and commentary on performance and KPIs
  • Review and improve financial control processes across AP and AR to allow for growth (AP and AR are currently provided by an external accountancy firm)
  • Review and improve financial processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and scalable, e.g. expenses, sales commission etc
  • Ensure all external compliance and statutory reporting requirements are met (this is currently provided by an external accountancy firm)
  • Recruit and develop finance staff when appropriate
  • Any other ad hoc or project work set by COO and CEO
  • Adopt a continuous improvement approach to drive efficiency and business performance


  • Qualified accountant
  • Experience of using Xero and other cloud accounting and reporting applications e.g. Receipt Bank, Futrli etc.
  • 1- 2 years’ experience across a wide range of finance operations
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Experience of SaaS businesses and accounting practices
  • Experience in a fast-paced start-up / scale-up environment through investment raises
  • Ability to implement process improvements across finance and operations
  • Track record of delivering high-quality management information and analysis
  • Ability to identify performance improvement opportunities and communicate effectively to the executive team
  • Ensure financial compliance and timely submission of key financial information
  • Able to work collaboratively across all functions and with third-party service providers
  • Enthusiastic and open to new ideas, a hands-on approach
